Stress Reduction Therapy in Orange County

Does this sound familiar?

Life is stressful. There isn’t much that we can do (aside from moving to a remote island) to get rid of stress completely. Stress reduction therapy can help.

You feel irritable, maybe even snapping at your partner or loved ones. You have trouble sleeping and difficulty concentrating. Maybe your doctor has even told you that you need to relax more or get rid of the stress. But how?!

Meet Kaylin Zabienski, LMFT. Your therapist for stress reduction.

I’m Kaylin, and I am a stress reduction therapist in Newport Beach.

In high school I was voted "most laid back." By the time I got to adulthood, I described myself as a "big ball of stress and anxiety" and knew I needed to get back to the glory days. Ok, no one actually wants to go back to high school- but I did want to get that laid back feeling again.

Helping people manage and lower stress is a passion of mine- it feels like my own little rebellion against the Man. The proverbial "they" want us to keep working to the bone, never feeling joyous and free. I've made it my mission to help you stay motivated and successful AND reduce the amount of stress in your life so that you can truly enjoy yourself.

After all, stressed spelled backwards is desserts- and that sounds way more fun.

My approach to stress reduction and stress management.

At Messy Authentic Counseling, I use a holistic, whole person approach to treating stress. I believe in the mind-body connection and will teach you how stress can affect both. There isn't one solution that works for everyone. Together, we will find tools that work for you to help you feel calm and a sense of ease.

I use a mindfulness based approach to treat my clients, which means that we will create a safe environment for you to look at your stressors (the things causing your to feel stress) with curiosity and without judgement.

What is mindfulness; how can it help me?

Mindfulness is paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and without judgement. It is a lifestyle practice and ongoing journey. I believe that by being more mindfully aware of our daily lives, we can learn a lot about ourselves. Mindfulness is not only sitting in a forest meditating for 8 hours a day, although that can be part of it if you want it to be.  Mindfulness helps mental health because it allows us to face our demons instead of letting them hide in the dark and control us from behind the scenes.

How do I know you are right for me?

There are many different approaches to therapy I have found that by helping my clients learn to observe their thoughts without judgment and to stay in the present moment, that they experience relief within a few weeks.  My goal is to create a safe environment where you will feel empowered to tell me anything that comes up- even the ugly, messy parts. By confronting these parts, we are working together to find self acceptance. When you are able to accept yourself as you are, you tend to stop worrying so much about others. As Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change.”
