Therapy for Burnout in Orange County

Grow up.
Life's not that hard.
You should be able to handle this.

Maybe these are your own thoughts, or maybe this is the messaging you've received from older generations of people who just don't get it. Millennials are burnt-out. There is no denying that fact. We are stuck somewhere between the generation that thinks we're lazy and the generation that thinks we work too much.

Burnout the feeling of exhaustion that you get from having a never ending to-do list, not enough time or money, and pressure to keep going as if we aren't living in a world full of systemic blocks that keep you on the hamster wheel.

Burnout is emotional, physical, and mental.

Burnout focused therapy can help.

Meet Kaylin Zabienski, LMFT. Your therapist for recovering from burnout.

Hi, I’m Kaylin and I’m here to help. I’m a burnout therapist in Orange County. I'm NOT a burnt-out therapist (anymore!).

As a burnout therapist, I help millennials like you who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and quite frankly, DONE.  We live in a world where the responsibility to solve systemic problems has been placed on the backs of individuals. I will help you to unpack the load that you are carrying on your back and to give some of that weight away.

Recovery from burnout is possible. It isn't fast, but it is doable.

My approach to treating burnout

At Messy Authentic Counseling, I use a holistic, whole person approach to treating burnout. I believe in the mind-body connection and will work with you to start to feel connected again, to be able to take breaks and rest.

I use a mindfulness based approach to treat my clients, which means that we will create a safe environment for you to look at your negative and false beliefs about the world as well as the very real experiences that you are having that led you to feel burnt-out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start?

If you are ready to get started, congratulations! This is a wonderful first step in your healing and that is not always easy.  Fill out the contact form below, and we will have a short 10 minute call to go over logistics and to make sure we are a good fit to work together. This is where you can ask me any other questions that are specific to you and your experience.  After that, we will schedule our first 50 minute session together, I will email you the paperwork to fill out before our appointment. I have a paperless practice so everything will be kept secure in my online portal. If you have more questions about what it is like to work with me, check out my blog post, here.

What is mindfulness; how can it help me?

Mindfulness is paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and without judgement. It is a lifestyle practice and ongoing journey. I believe that by being more mindfully aware of our daily lives, we can learn a lot about ourselves. Mindfulness is not only sitting in a forest meditating for 8 hours a day, although that can be part of it if you want it to be.  Mindfulness helps mental health because it allows us to face our demons instead of letting them hide in the dark and control us from behind the scenes.

How do I know you are right for me?

There are many different approaches to therapy. I have found that by helping my clients learn to observe their thoughts without judgment and to stay in the present moment, that they experience relief within a few weeks.  My goal is to create a safe environment where you will feel empowered to tell me anything that comes up- even the ugly, messy parts. By confronting these parts, we are working together to find self acceptance. When you are able to accept yourself as you are, you tend to stop worrying so much about others. As Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change.”
